Back in the early 90’s Aaron Davis Hall celebrated Nancy Wilson’s contributions to music and American culture, and one of the special guests invited to do so was Little Jimmy Scott.  It was important Mr. Scott participated because Nancy made it very clear that her inspiration as a young singer was Jimmy Scott.  However, at the time we did not know Nancy never sang with Jimmy.  The historic duet of Nancy and Jimmy singing When Did You Leave Heaven was something absolutely unforgettable.  It was profound for Nancy, a dream for Jimmy and an unbelievable story for everyone else.

Aaron Davis Hall, Harlem-New York’s 1st performing arts center, has hosted some of the world’s most brilliant scholars, artistic giants, and academic geniuses in our 40-year history.  Brilliance such as President Barack Obama, Maya Angelou, Tito Puente, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Nelson Mandela and Ms. Nancy Wilson blessed our stages and filled our hearts with joy.
